Understanding the Growth Cycle and Electrolysis

There are 3 phases of the growth cycle.  The active or growing phase (anagen), the transition phase (catagen), and the resting phase (telogen).  The length of the resting phase differs in each body area, which means it can take anywhere from 6 weeks to 6 months to treat every hair that grows in an area for the first time-- upper lip being the shortest at 6 weeks and legs being the longest at 6 months.  Here is a chart to show the length of the resting phases for each body area:

What does this mean for your treatments?  Electrolysis is a process and it is very important to follow your personalized treatment schedule to achieve permanent hair removal results.  Once an area is cleared, you should get the new hairs treated as they grow in, as they are at their weakest in the early stage of growth.  The process of electrolysis will cause thick hairs to grow in thinner, until they stop growing completely.  The best way to achieve permanent results the fastest is to be consistent with your sessions in order to treat the hair follicle at it's weakest stage.
